2D Animation
When an animation is created using a series of drawings in a two-dimensional (e.g. “flat”) environment.
3D Animation
Moving pictures in a three-dimensional environment; Objects can be rotated and moved like real objects

A simulation of movement or the perception of motion created by the rapid display of a series of still images.
Anime
An artistic animation style originated in Japan.

Stop-Motion Animation
Animation produced by arranging real objects, taking a picture of them, repositioning the objects minutely, then taking another picture of them to create a sequence of consecutive images that create the illusion of motion. One of the most common forms of stop-motion animation is claymation
